The outline of the project has been prepared and the necessary surveys and technical formalities have been completed.

Uttar Pradesh News: Work on the plan to double the 283 km long railway line under Railway Development in Uttar Pradesh is progressing rapidly. The outline of this project has been prepared, and the necessary survey and technical formalities have been completed.
Railway Development Corporation Limited has completed the preparations for doubling the railway lines of Bareilly-Chandausi-Aligarh and Chandausi-Moradabad, which will strengthen the railway infrastructure of North India.
The plan of the project has been prepared and the technical processes have been completed. This ambitious work is expected to start in the current financial year 2025–26.
Approach to prioritize approved projects
The central government had given permission for the doubling of these two railway routes two years ago, but due to some reasons the construction work could not start.
The necessary funds were given to these schemes in the budget of 2023-24. This time the Railway Ministry has adopted the approach of giving priority to already approved projects rather than announcing new projects.
Chandausi is 69 km from Bareilly, Aligarh is 168 km from Chandausi and Moradabad is about 45 km from Chandausi. The entire work will be completed in three phases.
The date of commencement of the construction work has not been released yet, but looking at the pace of preparations, it is estimated that the work will start in the coming months.
Survey for doubling to begin soon
Currently, only one rail line runs on the Bareilly-Chandausi-Aligarh and Chandausi-Moradabad routes, so the number of trains on these routes remains limited. Doubling will also reduce the number of trains and travel time.
The availability of double line will provide direct and smooth connection to North India from many areas of Western and South India, especially to major junctions like Aligarh. Now the Kasganj-Mathura rail line under Izzatnagar division is also the focus of the Railway Ministry.
This 105 km long route is still dependent on single line, but permission has also been given for its doubling in the 2025 budget. Senior DCM Sanjeev Sharma said that the survey for doubling of this route will start soon. With the completion of this work, rail connectivity from Kasganj to Mathura will become easier.
Doubling of Kasganj-Mathura railway line will also start soon under Northeast Railway Izzatnagar Division. In this year's budget, permission has been given to double the 105 km rail line.
This line is single till now. After the double line is built, the railway network of South, East and West India will be strengthened from Kasganj. The survey for doubling will start soon.
