New Traffic Rules: Now not just the RTA, but these officers will also issue challans, which vehicles will be affected
New Traffic Rules: Now there is no mercy for those who break traffic rules in Haryana, earlier only RTA could issue challan but due to these new rules now this officer can also issue challan...

Haryana government has taken a big step to stop the increasing number of overloaded vehicles on the roads. Now not only RTA (Regional Transport Authority), but all the SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) and CTM (City Magistrate) of the state will also be able to issue challan to overloaded vehicles.
Government sent necessary system and login ID
As per the guidelines issued by the Haryana government, now SDM and CTM will be able to check overloaded vehicles along with their daily work and can issue e-challan to those who break the rules. For this, they have also been given login ID and password of e-challan portal, so that they can use the system easily.
Due to this reason, this rule was not implemented earlier
The government wanted to take this step earlier also, but at that time ID and password were not provided to the officers to login. Now all the technical requirements have been fulfilled by the government and the officers have been made fully capable.
The government will have 2 big benefits
The government will get two big benefits from this decision - first, overloaded vehicles will be controlled, which will keep the roads safe, and second, the income of the government will also increase because a lot of revenue will come from the challans.
Under which law was this power given?
This decision has been taken under section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and rule 225 and 226 of the Haryana Motor Vehicle Rules, 1993. According to these provisions, now SDM and CTM will also be able to issue challans, just like the officers of the Transport Department do.
What things will the SDM and CTM have to keep in mind?
- They will be able to issue challans only in their jurisdiction.
- To login to the e-portal, first an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. It
- will be mandatory to change the password on logging in for the first time.
- A complete record of challans will also have to be maintained.
Which vehicles will be affected
Vehicles which are overloaded, which have more weight than the prescribed limit, will be directly challaned. This will not only increase road safety, but traffic rules will also be followed more strictly.
Who issued the order?
This order has been issued by Deputy Transport Commissioner Ravish Hooda. He said that this step will not only strengthen law and order but will also prevent road accidents.
