There will be a big change in the transport system soon
There will soon be a big change in the urban transport system of Rajasthan. Now 1100 electric buses of the state government and the central government will run in nine major cities of the state.
The "PM E-Drive Scheme", which aims to reduce pollution and provide convenient, economical and clean transport to passengers, is to achieve this goal. In fact, JCTSL (Jaipur City Transport Services Limited), a subsidiary of Rajasthan Roadways, will lead this scheme.
The capital Jaipur will get the maximum 150 buses, first 675 electric buses will be distributed. Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur will have 100 buses each, while Bhilwara, Alwar, Ajmer, Kota and Bharatpur will have 50 buses each.
Electric charging stations are being built
In the second phase, the state will get 425 additional electric buses. Jaipur will get 300 buses, Bikaner and Alwar will get 50 buses each and Jodhpur will get 25 buses.
Jaipur's public transport system will completely change as the capital will get a new fleet of 450 electric buses. These buses will be operated from Todi and Bagrana stations in Jaipur.
Also, Rudsico is building state-of-the-art electric charging stations at Todi and Bagrana depots. Currently, 200 low floor and midi diesel buses are running in these depots, but by September 2025, 80 buses will be scrapped. Now only 120 diesel buses will remain in Jaipur.
But the new scheme in Jaipur will have a bigger fleet of 870 buses, which will include 120 diesel, 300 CNG and 450 electric buses. This change will improve urban traffic and will be important for the environment.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had demanded 600 additional buses from the Union Urban Ministry during his last visit to Delhi, in response to which the ministry has promised to provide 425 buses.
Buses will start operating in 6 months
JCTSL Chairman Rajesh Yadav said that the loan process for electric buses has been completed and bank guarantee has also been obtained. These buses will be run in the next six months.
The special thing is that a single company will run these buses in the entire state. Once fully charged, these buses can run for about 180 kilometers without stopping, so they can also be used on international routes.
The tender process for CNG buses has also been completed and is in the final stages of their approval. This project is a historic step towards giving Rajasthan a safe, sustainable and future-oriented public transport system.
This will not only benefit millions of commuters but will also enable the region to make India one of the pollution-free countries.
