In an important announcement for central employees, the central government has implemented a new policy to promote organ donation. Recently, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that now central employees will get a maximum of 42 days of special casual leave for donating organs.
This rule will apply to all government employees. The move is aimed at encouraging organ donation and giving donors enough time for the necessary health benefits.
The order came in 2023-
The order regarding these leaves came in the year 2023. This order was issued by the Personnel Ministry. According to this order, the employee who donates organs can get leave up to 42 days. However, this leave will not depend on how the operation was.
In any case, leave of more than 42 days will not be available. Whether the operation is small or big. At the same time, doctor's approval is necessary for these leaves. That is, leave will not be given without doctor's approval. These leaves will start from the day of admission to the hospital.
Time can be extended-
As per government rules, the period of leave can be extended, but it will not exceed 42 days. If the doctor initially grants 7 days leave for a surgery and later feels the need for more leave, he can extend the period. However, the doctor will have to give written approval for this.
As per the rules, the holidays will be applicable from the day the person donating the organ is admitted to the hospital. But some relief has been given here as well.
If the doctor feels that it is necessary to admit the person in the hospital for a few days before the surgery for organ donation, then in such a case the holidays can be available a maximum of one week before the surgery.
