Breaking News, Digital Desk- The Government of India has started many schemes for the common people. A new scheme of Prime Minister Modi, named - PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. As the name suggests, this scheme is to provide free electricity to the houses, but through natural light, i.e. by using sunlight.
This can help in getting rid of electricity bills every month. Under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, beneficiaries will get the benefit of free electricity up to 300 units.
Target to benefit 1 crore families-
On February 13, 2024, Prime Minister Modi launched the Rooftop Solar Scheme to provide free electricity to one crore households. The government will provide up to 50% subsidy for the installation of solar panels, which will reduce electricity bills for families. Rs 75,000 crore has been allocated for this scheme.
Who can apply?

- No one in his family should be in a government job.
- Annual income of the household should be less than Rs 8 lakh.
- It is necessary for the person getting registered to have a roof on his house. Also, subsidy will be available only if solar panels are installed first.
- To install solar panels, no member of the family should be a tax payer.

Register online-
You can apply for this online by visiting the official website https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in. After opening the website, first choose the option of Apply for Rooftop Solar.
After this, choose the name of your state and electricity distribution company. Then enter your electricity consumer number, mobile number and email.
After this a new page will open, in which login by entering your consumer number and mobile. After this your form will open, which you can fill easily.
After this process you will get feasibility approval, after which you will be able to get the plant installed from any vendor registered with your discom.
Will you get this much subsidy?
To apply under this scheme, you must have electricity bills for the last six months. Under the new Solar Rooftop Scheme, consumers can get a subsidy of ₹30,000 per kilowatt for connections up to 3 kW and ₹18,000 per kilowatt for connections above 3 kW. This scheme is for residential consumers who want to install solar rooftop systems on their homes.
