Weather Update 5 May: 4 killed in Himachal-UP due to severe storm and rain, alert issued in these states including Rajasthan
Weather Update: 3 people died as bad weather hit northern parts of the country on Sunday with heavy rain, hailstorm and thunderstorm.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the region is likely to receive rain with strong winds in the coming two days, followed by light sporadic rains with a rise in temperature.
In Uttar Pradesh, districts including Varanasi, Mirzapur and Azamgarh witnessed a sudden change in weather on Sunday afternoon, with reports of people dying due to lightning in Jaunpur, Sonbhadra and Chandauli. The extensive casualties include three deaths, including that of a woman in Sonbhadra and Chandauli. Several others have been injured.
In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains and hailstorms have caused extensive damage in the last three days. A shepherd lost his life while more than 100 sheep and goats were swept away in the floods in a devastating cloudburst in Bhatiyat area of Chamba district. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed grief over the incident.
Meanwhile, heavy rains in Uttarakhand saw a significant rise in the water level at the Kampti falls, leading to a ban on visiting the Kampti falls. The region's meteorological department has issued an orange alert for the next two days, warning of strong winds, hailstorms and heavy rains.
Unseasonal rains and hailstorms in Haryana-Punjab have raised concerns of farmers, affecting wheat procurement. The rains have hampered the lifting of wheat from the markets, leaving farmers and traders worried about potential losses.
Severe thunderstorms and hailstorms expected in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and elsewhere:
The weather department has issued an alert for thunderstorms with the possibility of hailstorms and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning in several areas in the coming days.
The IMD has identified areas from Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, eastern Rajasthan to east-western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal, warnings of severe weather conditions have been issued.
Delhi-NCR Weather Alert:
IMD has issued a yellow alert forecasting light rain and cool temperatures, with the maximum temperature likely to hover between 34-36 degrees Celsius.
